Winter Paradise in Hawaii!

I recently came back from a fabulous trip to Hawaii with my parents. We were in Lahaina in Maui, population of almost 12 000. Aside from a little bit of rain on a couple of the days, the weather was awesome.

Some of the restaurants we visited were:

At Lahaina Fish Co.

At Lahaina Fish Co.

  • Cheeseburger in Paradise
  • Lahaina Fish Co.
  • Mama’s Fish H0use
  • Roy’s

All of the food we tried did not disappoint! My favourite restaurant was Lahaina Fish Co. I had a great burger with a gluten free bun and fries, as well as shrimp cocktail to start. Some of the other great food I tried was shrimp tacos, and a delicious steak at Roy’s. If anyone is going to Maui soon, be sure  to check out some of these awesome restaurants.

Aside from the great food, my favourite thing we got to do was snorkeling with the turtles at Sea Maui! I got to go underwater and watch them swim around us in the reef with other fish. The two we saw my dad and I decided to name. We named them Crush and Squirt. I took some pictures with an underwater camera, and here are two of my favourite:

If you guys are ever in Maui, I hope you get a chance to go to #SeaMaui for this awesome turtle adventure. Although two weeks didn’t seem long enough of a stay in this beautiful winter paradise, I had a great time with my family in the sun.

I cannot wait to see what is in store for my next adventure, stay tuned for more!

My Country Concerts of 2016!

Now that it is a new year, I would like to reflect a little bit about 2016 and the great country concerts I went to. This summer I was lucky enough to go to two of my favourite country singers concerts: Keith Urban and Florida Georgia Line. They played at the new arena in Edmonton at Rogers Place. Rogers place officially opened in Edmonton on September 8, 2016. The arena has a capacity of 18 347 for hockey games and 20 734 for concerts. The new arena is awesome for concerts and it is a great addition to Edmonton. The seats are comfortable and access to food and drinks is a lot better than the previous arena.

If you follow me you know how much I love Keith Urban and also how much I love Florida Georgia Line. Some of the songs played at their concerts were:

Florida Georgia Line – Dig Your Roots tour

  • This is How We Roll ( concert opener)
  • H.O.L.Y
  • Anything Goes
  • May We All
  • Cruise (closer )

Keith Urban – Ripcord tour

  • Wasted Time (concert opener)
  • John Cougar,Jon Deere, John 3:16
  • Break on Me
  • Blue Ain’t Your Colour
  • The Fighter

The Keith Urban concert was especially memorable to me, as I got to meet him before the concert with Sara. We got to shake his hand chat with him a little bit! I told him that his songs really inspire me, and asked him to start off the show with Wasted Time, AND HE DID!! I am grateful for this opportunity and it will definitely stick with me with me as one of my favourite memories!

Florida Georgia Line was also an awesome time. Although I didn’t get to meet them I got to go with Sara and some other friends and had a blast! I love Florida Georgia Line’s mix of music they have. They are a country band but have a little bit of a mix of country, rock and pop sound to their songs, which keeps their albums interesting and fun.

I look forward to what 2017 brings, and I hope that if I go to any concerts, they are as good as these two awesome shows!

…….maybe one day I can meet Florida Georgia line!! … I can hope!

End of Summer

Now that it is the end of summer, I am so happy I got to go on my vacation while the weather was still awesome. My family and I were lucky enough to go to Seattle in September and watch three Blue Jays games and then on to Vancouver Island we went!

At the Blue Jays games I got to meet Aaron Sanchez, my favourite player. He was so nice and remembered meeting me before. He even signed my jersey!  We had really great seats, and it was so cool to see my boys crush The Mariners two out of the three games….I can’t wait for some post-season action. Now that they have secured a wild card spot, lets hope for a win to see some playoff games!

After our Blue Jays games in Seattle, we headed to Vancouver Island for some fun with my family. I got to have a great visit with my second mom Deb. We went to Tofino and saw some beautiful ocean scenery and had a great time taking pictures by the beach. I can’t wait until my next vacation. I am happy I got to try new food and meet some awesome people. I will always remember this trip with my parents and I am so happy we were able to go this year.

Deb & me!

Deb & me!

Although Summer is coming to an end, I am pumped for some potential  Blue Jays playoff games and for Connor to light up the Oilers roster!

Talk to you guys soon,

let me know what you guys did for fun this summer!

I’m Back!

Hey everyone,

it’s your boy Ryan MacIntyre back from summer holidays!

I’ve been gone for a couple weeks to soak in some sun, eat good food and drink up some nice cold drinks! We went to Kelowna, BC and down into the states for some great family time and I had a blast!

While we were away we went on a 4K hike up a mountain, found some awesome restaurants, went swimming in the lake, had peanut butter ice cream and came back in time to do some camping near my home town too!

Beyond all the fun things to do, summer is such a great time to catch up with family and friends and reflect on the things that matter most in life.

My family is number one in my life. They are the people that are there for you no matter what and are always cheering you on through the good, the bad and the ugly!

I hope all have had great summer holidays as well and got some time in with loved ones.

But for now, its back to business for me, which means I will be posting more for you all!

The King of Country Returns to Edmonton!

Hey everyone, it’s your boy Ryan Mac n’Cheese (MacIntyre)!

Today I will be giving thoughts on Keith Urban’s upcoming concert at the brand new Rogers Place for 2016. I have been listening to him since I was 16 years old. I have been to seven Keith Urban concerts here in Edmonton, so I guess you could say I’m a die hard fan!! I have all 10 of his CDs and play them a lot.

He is a great country singer and he shreds on the guitar like crazy! My favourite song is “Long Hot Summer” from his album Get Closer, which I requested to kick off last summers Light the Fuse tour concert.

My cousin Mark and I went to last summers concert together, we are both huge fans but I think I’m the bigger fan! Mark is the best person to go to Keith Urban concerts with because he gets crazy and we both sing along to every song Keith Urban plays.

Mark’s favourite song is “Raining on Sunday” and my favourite song is a new one called “Wasted Time” from his 2016 album, Ripcord.

At the concert last year my friend Chris Scheetz and I went to meet Keith Urban backstage. I hugged Keith Urban and I told him he smelled good! Can’t wait to see him again!

Keith Urban will be performing at Rogers Place in Edmonton again this summer for his Ripcord World Tour. I have a feeling he is going to bring the heat!!

Keith Urban will be the first performance at the new Rogers Place stadium in Edmonton. It has been under construction for over two years and will be finished this summer for Keith’s concert on September 16th. I can’t wait to see which songs he sings this time!!

My best tutor in the world, Emily, and I are going to be interning for a local radio station, 630 CHED, as well as learning to play guitar and drums!

YEAH BOY!

We’ll also be interning with AITF (Alberta Institutes Technology Futures) doing blogging and communications with their company!

AND I’ll be giving a speech at my brother, Dylan, and Jayden’s wedding on July 11th! I’m the best man! Check ittt! I’m really happy for my brother, and I’m ready to rock it!

We’re going to have a great summer together and I can’t wait to show the world my adventures.

Talk to you soon, love Ryan.

My Brother’s Wedding!

Hello everybody!

My brother is now a married man and we had a heck of a time at the wedding!

screen-shot-2015-07-15-at-12-42-37-pm.png

The wedding was awesome, everyone was dressed in blue, and the theme was casual so luckily, I didn’t get too hot.

The vows were emotional and sweet, I really liked the simplicity of the whole thing. The food was awesome and potluck, so you got a nice taste of everything, and gosh sakes I love a buffet!

Dylan and Jayden both seemed like they really enjoyed their day, and that was the best part.

I presented my best man speech and everyone cried. I worked really hard on the speech so I’m glad everyone liked it! I think that the short, sweet, and funny speeches are always the best so thats what I tried to do. Take a look for yourself and see what you think!

A special thank you to Dylan and Jayden for allowing me to be such a big part of their special day, and to Dylan for everything he’s done for me over the years. I love you bro!

And now they both are getting ready to leave for Australia for a year to teach. As happy as I am for Dylan, I’m so sad he is leaving and I hope he has a great time (but not TOO great) and comes home soon!

They Hired Me!

Hey guys, so as you can probably see from my recent YouTube video, I GOT A JOB WITH 630CHED!!

At the beginning, I was job-shadowing/interning at 630CHED for a month or so. Some things I got to do during that time were:

I had an absolute blast and was so sad when it was all over.

BUT I interviewed for a position with their street team a week ago after weeks of missing those guys (and honing my interview skills at Ronald McDonald House) aaaand….

They hired me. They want me on their team. I am thrilled!

I am going to be at every major event, concert, and sports game in the city, representing 630CHED and talking to lots of different people!

This is the best job I could have asked for and I can’t wait until my first shift!

I will tweet and post to instagram about every event I am attending so you can come out and see me there.

Ryan’s Tips for Getting Wedding-Ready

Hey guys! Wedding season is here and I have a really exciting one coming up!

In just a few days, my brother Dylan is getting married to the love of his life, and I’m going to have TWO brothers! Double the trouble!

So, to get us all ready for the weddings we will be going to, I have some tips for getting wedding-ready as a guest!

1. Have the right outfit! – Make sure you are not over or under-dressed for the wedding. My brother and his fiancé have a casual dress code: shorts and summer clothes. If i showed up in a full suit I would look ridiculous! But it is good to have a standard suit/dress that you can wear to any wedding event.

Spending the money on an outfit that can work for many things is a good investment! Also, it is totally okay to wear the same outfit to different events (unless you’re A-list famous and followed by paparazzi)

2. Know your limits! – Don’t be afraid to give yourself a curfew or limit your drinks for the night if you are worried about getting too tired or too crazy! I love to have a good party and drink a rum and coke, but I know that if I’m at a wedding, the best plan is to drink responsibly and make sure the couple has a great time

3. Double-no-triple check that your phone’s settings are on silent. There is nothing more embarrassing or rude than having a phone go off in the middle of some heartfelt vows or moving part of the ceremony. Just do it!

4. Be prepared to sit through some speeches. Everyone does their wedding reception differently, however, some weddings can have very LONG speeches and you’ve gotta be prepared emotionally to sit for that long through childhood anecdotes and travel-buddy’s story about how the bride/groom did (blank) on this one trip to Australia… bring gum or a toy to fiddle with just in case.

5. Check out the gift-registry early – so that you can get something in your budget that you think is appropriate! Feel free to branch out and send a gift card their way as well, it never hurts to have a movie or date night at the Keg already paid for

6. Don’t be anxious about having a date. – A +1 is a nice thing to have, however, going alone to a wedding is not the end of the world. You will meet lots of cool people that are there to support your friends and have a good time just like you are! You are independent and you don’t need a date to enjoy the event!

7. Have some cash on you! – You never know whether there will be a cash bar or anything else you may need money for. Often, there is a break between the ceremony and the reception and that leaves a lot of time to get tummies grumbling! It’s a good idea to grab a bite between so you don’t get hangry during those (see #4) long speeches.

FInally, make sure you say a heartfelt thank you to the couple for inviting you to their special day.

They didn’t have to, and god sakes weddings can get pricey!

Canada Day – Camping with Family!

Hey guys, it’s your boy Ryan MacIntyre here again with another blog post!

For those of you that don’t know, this Wednesday was Canada Day and I went camping with my family for the week! When my family goes camping, we do it RIGHT.

We go all out with the campfire food and the outdoor activities  Some of my favourite parts of the trip were:

– Dylan, Jayden, and Jayden’s friend Kara came up for Canada Day, and we played Cards Against Humanity® (NSFW). It got pretty funny, but some of the cards were really bad!

– Some other games we played were bean bag toss, ladder toss, and Sorry®– On Canada Day, we had drinks while we watched the Blue Jays game and they WON 12-8!!

– Making Campfire Pizzas!! YUM

– On Friday night, we barbecued steaks from Eiserman Meats (Slave Lake) and they were AWESOME. I always love their steaks  I ate a whole 12oz steak!

–  My dad and I took Mom in to work for a bit on Friday, and then the power went out so it was the shortest workday ever for her! (too funny)

– On Sunday, we went fishing.

My brother and Jayden left their pug, Pablo, with us so he came fishing too!He saw his first fish ever and his buggy eyes bugged out even more!

We had a wonderful time camping in Slave Lake and I can’t wait to go back again soon!

If you have any funny/great camping stories, leave them in the comments below! I’d love to read them!
