ABOUT ME

Welcome to my website my name is Ryan MacIntyre! I am 30 years old and I live in Edmonton, Alberta. I am currently working for Sagiper North America as warehouse coordinator, Corus Entertainment as a promotions coordinator, and Leading Edge Physiotherapy as an office assistant. I love all three of my amazing jobs. Back in 2016 I graduated from Macewan University majoring in Communications. I am Edmonton Oilers fan, Toronto Raptors fan, UFC, and all things football. I enjoy watching sports and cheering ( loudly) my favourite teams on. I like how sports brings people together as a team and creates a community of fans that support the teams. I have a passion for music. Some of my favourite genres are country music, rock, heavy mettle and rap. I am a big Keith Urban fan! I love being able to connect with people on social media and in person. I enjoy being able to share events that go on in my life in the form of blog posts, photos, and videos! I will continue to share my interests in sports, music, photography, swimming, friends, family, ketchup, animals, big bang theory, and so much more on social media. So for all things #RyanYEG follow me on twitter, instagram, youtube and check up on my website for new updates!

Family

I have a loving family. I have a brother named Dylan and a brother in law named Jayden. They got married back in July, 2015 and I was the best man at their wedding. I am a uncle to their two pugs named Pablo and Gabby. Dylan, Jayden, and the pugs live in Perth, Australia.

Another furry creature in the family is my cat. His name is Sheldon (aka mr Crazy). I also have a dog named Kona. She drives me crazy but I love her to death.

I have an amazing girlfriend named Sarah and we have been dating for 4 years (so long and not long enough). Looking forward to many more years spend with her. She lives in Calgary so the long distance is sometimes tough because I wish I could always spend more time with her.

My parents are very supportive of my work and all the projects I like to take on. My moms name is Barb and my Dads name is Russ. As a family we love to travel, play games, go camping, and eat yummy food together.

WOrk

I have three awesome jobs. I am very luck and very busy working hard at all my jobs. My first job is at Sagiper North America. I love my job with Sagiper because of my coworkers and the amazing community of the company. We goof around together during our monthly wing eating competitions but then get right back to work and work hard together. A few of my roles are maintaining the sample wall, making architecture kits, inspecting shipping items, and off loading containers.

My second job is working for Corus Entertainment. Some of roles and responsibilities for Corus include setting up our info booths , taking photos for social media, signing people up for Contests, Cruising around the city and get radio clips for 630 CHED, and much more.

My third job is with Leading Edge and some of my roles there are doing paper work, preparing heating packs, cleaning beds, and so much more. I like working there to talk to the patients and because I have always thought human physiology was so interesting when I took it in University. Fun to see the real world of human physiology happen at Leading Edge.

MY TOP 10's

In this section I will share some of my favourite things to do, see, and links attached to help you get started. Some of my top 10’s will include music, food, actives to do in Edmonton and abroad. There are so many things to choose from so thats why I made my tops 10’s for you guys to help narrow down your search. Check in for new posts and I would love to hear what some of your own tops 10’s are.

Top 10: Ways to Include Exercise in Daily Life

As you know, I have a personal trainer this summer that is helping me to get into shape. BUT you don’t need a personal trainer to get some exercise in every day. Lifting weights is a great way to stay fit at home or in the gym!

  1. Walk your dog. Make it a priority for you and your pet to get some fresh air every day.
  2. Jog/Run. This is a great option because it is a) free, b) takes less time than walking to elevate heart rate and get your body warmed up, c) works lots of different muscle groups, d) totally a social activity that can include friends and family!
  3. Ditch your car. Opt for a bicycle or walk/bus route to get where you’re going! Save the environment and keep yourself fit! Win win!
  4. Challenge your idea of “Date-Night” – either choose an activity that is more physically active than dinner/movie, OR make your destinations bus/walkable and turn it into an awesome adventure.
  5. Have a well planned routine that allows for at least 4, 20-min exercise sessions a week (running on treadmill, lifting weights, core/strength training). Aim for the mornings because, as Denise Potvin says, “it’s harder to find excuses to skip the workout!”  GOOD POINT!
  6. Take the Stairs. At work or school, in your doctors office, or at the mall, in the train station or anywhere else in your day, it’s as simple as taking the stairs. Just do it. You’ll thank me later.
  7. There’s an App for That! There are tons of apps available to help you lose weight by counting your steps and calories. One I have been using and finding helpful is “Lose It” on the apple store. It is colourful and easy to use, so I don’t have to put in a ton of time entering information.
  8. Find music that pumps you UP. Listen to music that makes you want to move! Have a dance party in your kitchen, shake it while you brush your teeth, dance at the bus stop. Music makes you feel good, and when you feel good, it’s a lot easier to find ways to move.
  9. Make your own food. Go out and select the food you want, cook it yourself, enjoy the heck out of it. You burn plenty more calories purchasing and preparing your food than you dodialling Dominos or Panda Hut Express.
  10. Include your family! My bro Dylan and I LOVE to go swimming. The rest of my family loves to go on walks in the river valley, and work out together. In my experience it is WAY easier to stick to your guns with fitness when you have a group supporting you with it!  (thanks mom, dad, and Dylan!)

Those are my thoughts for daily exercise. I hope you found these helpful, I’m still working to include them in my life as well!

I’m having a nice day today and I was thinking about how perfect the weather is for a date night

That got me thinking about date ideas in Edmonton, so here are my top 10!

Of course there are the few different Cineplex Odeon theatres in the city. South Edmonton Common has one surrounded in restaurants which makes it an ideal spot for dinner/movie dates. Windermere has a VIP theatre where you can have alcoholic drinks and delicious food while you enjoy your movie!

Also, there are some older theatres in town that are very beautiful and remind us of Edmonton’s history. The Princess Theatre and the Garneau Theatre off of Whyte Avenue are awesome venues to hit for an old timey experience and awesome popcorn!!

Don’t forget to check out the Varscona theatre, the Citadelthe Walterdale, and many more for live theatre! Edmonton is full of great entertainment!

2. Coffee Shop –

A classic Canadian Timmies can go a long ways on a date, so can Starbucks or Second Cup.

4. Hockey Game –

At Rexall Place you can enjoy the Edmonton Oilers or Edmonton Oil Kings games with your favourite players, your date, and some awesome french fries, coke, popcorn, potent Rexall beer, or whatever you feel like having! This is a perfect Canadian date and one that will definitely bring you two closer together! (Go Oilers! and Connor McDavid!) Edmonton is getting a new arena built as well that should make games easier to get to (it’s right downtown!)
